Customer Spotlight: Animal Emergency Hospital Grand Rapids - Byron Center

Dr. Samantha Gerbers from Animal Specialty Emergency Hospital - Byron Center in Grand Rapids tells us about her experience with the skill-builder course and their experience with Piloter.

Technological advancements are continually reshaping the way we care for our patients. Today, we are excited to share the experiences of Dr. Samantha Gerbers, one of the associate emergency veterinarians at Animal Specialty Emergency Hospital in Byron Center, Grand Rapids. Dr. Gerbers and her team have been utilizing the Core Imaging Piloter, a remote assistance enabled ultrasound unit, to elevate their in-house diagnostic capabilities to enhance the quality of care they provide.

The hospital has been utilizing the
Core Imaging Piloter since its opening in 2021, and the team has been thoroughly impressed with its performance. Dr. Gerbers commends the Piloter for its ease-of-use and the outstanding image quality. The portable Piloter delivers crisp and clear images that rival those obtained from larger stationary ultrasound machines. This high image clarity enables the hospital to perform full point of care abdominal ultrasounds, streamlining the diagnostic process and providing fast answers.

(Piloter) gives us a really nice, clear image similar to some of the larger ultrasound machines. We find that we still get a really nice, crisp, clear image and can do a full abdominal ultrasound bedside with the piloter since it’s so mobile and easy to use.

Dr. Gerbers also recently participated in a skill builder course for the Piloter ultrasound system, enhancing her skills through real-time guidance from a remote radiologist. This training has enabled her to provide even better care to her animal patients.

“I really enjoyed being able to build upon the skills that I already had in ultrasound, working one on one with a radiologist, she was able to teach me some new skills building upon what I already knew, and they could see what I was doing as I was doing it and helped me position my hand more correctly or just more ideally to get the best image and enhance my current ultrasound abilities.”
